Uk research finds new variant may perhaps be up to 70% far more deadly

LONDON — U.K. federal government scientific advisers say the COVID-19 variant now predominant in the region may possibly be up to 70% much more lethal than earlier variants, underscoring worries about how mutations might alter the features of the ailment.

The findings from the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group, released Friday on the government’s web page, create on preliminary study introduced Jan. 21. The team includes authorities from universities and community companies throughout the U.K.
